Joelle Thomas is originally from western Washington. After leaving the area for college, she received her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. She then completed her OB/GYN residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI where she was selected to serve as chief resident. From 2015 to 2017, she served as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the the University of Wisconsin Hospital. After becoming Board Certified with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 2017, she was delighted to join Seattle OB/GYN in January of 2018 and return to the Pacific Northwest.

Dr. Thomas loves working towards improving women’s health and aims to serve as an approachable and knowledgeable resource for her patients. She strives to create a comfortable and non-judgmental environment and ensure her patients feel educated and supported when it comes to making healthcare decisions.

Dr. Thomas cares for both low and high risk pregnancies, including twin pregnancies, pregnancies conceived through assisted reproductive technologies, and women with preexisting medical conditions. She is very supportive of VBAC. Her gynecology practice includes pre-pregnancy planning, contraception (including IUDs, Nexplanon, and sterilization procedures) management of abnormal pap smears, and management of abnormal bleeding. Her areas of surgical expertise include cervical LEEP or cold knife cone, hysteroscopy with treatment of polyps and fibroids, endometrial ablation, laparoscopic pelvic surgery including removal of ovarian cysts/ovaries/fallopian tubes, and minimally invasive routes for hysterectomy.

In her free time, Dr. Thomas enjoys spending time in the mountains hiking or skiing, biking, reading, and traveling.
